Intel Dual Core CPU Release

April 18, 2005, Intel stated that mainstream computer manufactures such as Dell, and Alienware would immediately begin selling desktop PCs with dual core Intel Pentium D CPUs. Up until the current point, dual core CPUs had never been available to the average consumer. The advantages of a dual core CPU were obvious: multitasking. But, that was not the only advantage. They provide better 3D performance, are able to process high definition audio, and provides an all around better computing experience. They also used less power while idling. The dual core CPU can process more and multitask because it spreads the processes through different threads simultaneously. It’s Hyper threading technology presents itself as to physical CPUs while taking advantage of a single socket.
